Congratulations to all of our recent winners and awards:

• Lukas Sahhar wins 2014 Robert Power Surgery prize
• Bernadette Fitzgibbon wins Young Tall Poppy Science award
• Prof Jeffrey V. Rosenfeld made a Knight of Grace in the St John's Order
• AIRmed researchers NHMRC collaborative grants

Two new prizes have been created for CCS medical students:

• Hatem Salem Award for Medical Research Excellence
• Nip Thomson Award for Medical Student Clinical and Research Excellence

Emeritus Professor Hatem Salem AM was the Australian Centre for Blood Diseases founding director until his retirement at the end of 2012 and Emeritus Professor Nip Thomson AM was Head of Central Clinical School for 10 years (2000-2010).

Congratulations to NHMRC project and ECR grants for Central Clinical School researchers

Congratulations to the CCS researchers who were successful in the 2014 NHMRC funding round. Five Early Career fellowships (including one Career Development Fellowship) and five project grants were awarded with an income total of approximately $5.1M. See detail below. 09/06/2014 Professor Jayashri Kulkarni, Monash Alfred Psychiatry Research Centre, commented that the higher doses of anti-psychotics during pregnancy increases the need for special care after birth with 43 per cent of babies placed in a Special Care Nursery or a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, almost three times the national rate.
